I love Jack Johnson. His music is so relaxing and cool. His little known best friend is Donovan Frankenreiter. Yes, funny name. But amazing music. This is his song "What'cha Know About":
"Sometimes your life can crumble
sometimes your soul might make a stumble
but you can't drown in your sorrow
cause you might be found
you might be found tomorrow"
Sometimes it seems that the hard times will never end. I know that it has been that way for me in the past. One day when I was reading my bible, God gave me a verse for my needs after a year of trials and tests.
Paul is speaking: "..to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh...three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, "MY GRACE IS ALL YOU NEED. MY POWER WORKS BEST IN WEAKNESS." So now I am lad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me." - 2 Corinthians 12:7-8
Hard times are...well...hard. They test us mentally, physically and spiritually. Sometimes you just feel drained and you want to give up, wallow in your misery. But as Donovan Frankenreiter writes, "we might be found tomorrow', and that gives me hope for the day to come. God has an amazing plan for me and I will grow and run through all the trials that I face to further glorify him and his children. STAY STRONG!

I think that you have to have hope in everything you do, because no matter how hard you fall or how horrible you feel, you have to remember that tomorrow is a new day and if you have hope and belief, deep down, that you can do what you want to do, one day you will be successful and even if that day isn't today, there is always tomorrow...if you don't lose hope.
I agree with your sense of music. Jack Johnson and Donaven Frankenrieter are two amazing guitarists of whom i always turn to when days are just crap. BTW, KATHERINE HOULE ROX MY SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know exactly what you mean when you refer to our 'trials'. But looking at them as growth gives all of us hope to get up the next morning and get on with our lives
You are so right, Katherine. It is amazing how God can lead us to just the right verse when we need it most. One verse that I found was Ex. 14:14 (good verse) :0)anyway...
I love you katherine houle!!!!! (you make our small group so exciting!)
It is the times that are testing and that are almost unbearable that you truely find who you are. Whether is be physical, mental, emotional or spiritual challenges, you discover who you are, what you can do and what you believe. It may be tough to do on your own, but that is why God created friends. Bill Withers' song perfectly discribes why friends are so important. "Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on"
Friends are there to help you when you fall. We all need a few Simons in our lives.
Thanks for being my friend Katherine.
The trials that we all face are just like you said. It's so encouraging to hear you say that stuff because when those times do come around, you really do just want to feel sorry for yourself. But we can't. Not with God right next to us!!!
i know one thing that gets me through the bad things is the mindset that A: God has a plan and B: trials are learning experiences, put in our path so taht we can grow
All these people have said so many good things, and it's true. Our hard times to stink...really badly. But if I take a step back and look at the journey that my trials caused me to go through, I am in awe of how God has worked
I love that verse that you provided, it's so true in every single way. "my power works best in weakness"....wow....i'll take that on a rainy day!!
To know that the happy times are just around the corner, not only do you have to have hope, but you have to have the bad times in order to know how good the good times are
