Perceptions

Love is a word like no other. People have so many different interpretations and it has different meanings to so many people. For me, love is something that I don't completely understand. I say "I love you" to my family, and I used to say it to a certain someone but something that I have learned is that there is more about love that I don't understand, than what I do. Love is so much more than just a word. If you've ever heard the song, (Love is a verb!) alrite, so, 1 John 4:16 says, "God is love." I've learned that the way we love people says so much about who we are as a person and something that has hit me in the past year is that if how we love says a lot about who we are than, I am absolutely 100% screwed. God So loved the world that He gave one and only son. What does that even say about how God loves us and who He is. I honestly can't even imagine what that must have been like to love someone so much to give up your own son. It kind of boggles my mind but its just really amazing to see the sacrifice that God made for each of us. So you're probably wondering how I connect this to music so here ya go. A little while ago, I had to work on a poetry project for school so a couple of the poems that I wrote were about Love so I'm just gonna give you guys a sample of what I wrote and you give me your feedback!!!

A Love

I've been falling
Falling in and out of love with you
Here you are, here with me
And I'm just falling in and out of love with you

Do I know what love is
To honestly love a person
What does that even mean
I'm looking outside and trying to look in
But I'm just falling in and out of love with You

Each and every day seems to be a new ride
Without a guide, where am I to turn
Love seems to be something so legendary
Something I might have not even grasped
What does it mean to be in love

I've been there, done that
But this, I can't quite seem to understand this
Love is a mystery to me
You seem to know what you're talking about
How do you keep something so alive, so vibrant

People talk about Jesus
And how God sent His son
I cant even fathom what that must have been like
To give Your son's life because of love

Here I am just falling
Falling in and out of love with You
I'm sorry I'm not better
I'm sorry I haven't learned yet
Maybe someday I'll learn how to love

hey, that's really true i think there is a reason that in many cultures the word love actually has many different word's for it's meaning. That's a really cool song too..

To me Love can't really be described, but rather expressed. We may never truly know what it means to Love until we have met God, because well God is love. We live our lives trying to find Love when it is right there, all you have to do is accept it. Funny how that works huh? lol but love you poem/song it would be awesome if you could write up song lyrics for our band, or heck maybe even join our band.

Hmmm...love. Makes us do crazy things, but no one quite knows what the meaning is. I know there is true love, physical love, and emotional love. I know I believe in God and that you can find love in it's purest form through him. The other loves are of this world. I like the poem on here, it's the truth. No matter how hard we try, our love will never live up to God's. But still, we try.

I think the song "Love Stinks" summed it up best. :)

I don't get it either, man. Once you figure it out, let me know. I'm dying to know, myself. It is the greatest joy of my life to try to love others, and I am ever so grateful that God loves me.

I'm glad you think it's important. Love is the greatest thing we can ever know. It has more power than we could ever imagine. There is nothing more magnificent. I love you, man! :)

The one and only John

I agree with you...it is impossible for us to understand the love God feels for us...because it's perfect. Because we as humans are not perfect and have been contaminated by sin we cannot understand perfect love. The bible gives us a definition of love so that we might better understand what God feels for us in the 1 corinthians...Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things; believes all things; hopes all things; endures all things...it describes Gods character as well because like you said "God is love"...so this verse is a description of God. love is so beautiful. Just like love we cannot fully understand God...because he's perfect...the human condition implies a lack of understanding of perfection....

I totally agree. What is love? Where is the love? What's love gotta to do with it? Well what I do know is that we can show our love for God through our love for others. We may never know what L_O_V_E truly means, but we can always know that God loves us.

(Amy, that cute little asian girl told me to do this. Yeah. Anyway)
LOVE! LOOOOOOVE! LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED! You know that movie? Moulin Rouge? Thats right. Love. You can love it or hate it. It can make you want to kill yourself, or it can make you want to just....fly in the air and sing....or something. It's a word that contains such a vast range of emotions, it's...amazing. One can never expect to truly understand love. Frankly, I think it's quite impossible, but to understand GOD'S love for us. Mannnnn we are stepping into the realm where no man is supposed to go. Don't even try. Seriously. Hahaha.

I don't think you're alone as far as how lost you are when it comes to love, Bup. That's one of the cool things about life. We get to spend it figuring out what love is and figuring out how to love. There's so much to learn and so many people to love so we might as well start now. As far as I understand what I'm saying: I love you, Bup. :)

I reallly like this poem! i like how it uses repetition to grab the reader's attention, and it can be connected to their realationships with others and to God.
